Last week I noticed that my left fog lamp stopped working. So as a fog lamp, the first thing I thought of was a light bulb. Based on my visit to the public service station, they mentioned that the light bulb was okay, but the cable was bitten by a mouse.

My first reaction here is, can we replace the cable? Obviously, the cable and the connector are out of stock. They quoted me a cable connector of 1900 rupees and an installation fee of 600 rupees.

I provided my number and asked the service engineer to call back when the cable connector is in stock.

At the same time, in my mind, I didn’t believe that just replacing the connector would cost 2500 rupees, so I started to decode that connector and found that it was just a simple two-wire connector with a clip, and decided to check a local one Car accessories shop. Fortunately, I bought a similar connector from a nearby store for 250 rupees. I used the connector to take out those wires and put them in the public connector and patched them.

The task of 250 rupees was completed with 250 rupees.

Insert the wire into the VW connector

Open the four T20 nuts from the bottom of the front bumper, plug the connector back, and that's it.

The following are BHPian Ashtoncastelino's views on the matter:

Great fix! ASS will never try to repair the wiring, they directly recommend replacing the expensive wiring harness. You check whether there is a connector in the store and save 10 times the cost of not buying a wiring harness, which is great.

This is what I fear most when I drive the car to my hometown. Recently, my uncle’s 2014 Tata Super Ace Mint was parked overnight, and a mouse bit the wire of the diesel filter sensor. After that, the "Water in Diesel Filter" light on the cluster suddenly turned on. I have always wondered why mice tend to chew at the end of the connector? It became very frustrating and spoiled the day.

I managed to get a nail removal kit, removed the connector, took off the pins and crimped the new pins into it and taped them all together.
