Despite the discretion of the authorities, tourists managed to find a mysterious metal boulder in Utah, which was exposed earlier this week.

On Monday, the Utah Department of Public Safety shared that a four-sided metal pillar about 10 feet long was found in the Red Rock Country of Utah. The exact location of the device was not disclosed to prevent people from trying to find it because of concerns that tourists might be trapped in remote areas. But this did not stop David Surber, who started sharing videos and images of Jushi to an unverified Instagram account on Wednesday.

In a video labeled Moab, Surber tested whether the structure is magnetic and robust. "Hollow, riveted, and non-magnetic," he said in the clip.

He described the composition of the boulder in detail in the title of the video, explaining that it was "three pieces riveted together" and pointed out that "the top is missing two rivets." He also warned other curious adventurers that "the sedan will not cut it" and suggested "crossover SUV or higher".

Surber also shared that he is not the only person able to track the site.

He wrote: “Before people started showing up, I was alone in the morning for about 10 minutes, but overall it was not too crowded and you all wanted to travel.”

In another video shared on social media sites, Surber elaborated on his "exciting journey".

"It doesn't matter who built it or where it came from," he wrote. "This is an active escape from today's world. Many people come together to enjoy some of them."

Utah DPS stated in a statement posted on its website on Monday that the structure was discovered on November 18 by DPS’s Aviation Administration and Utah Department of Wildlife Resources.

The statement added that there was "no obvious indication" of who installed the boulder, but reminded the public that "no matter which planet you are from, it is illegal to install structures or works of art on public land managed by the federal government without authorization."

"We are almost 100% sure that this is some kind of installation attempt," Lieutenant Nick Street, a spokesperson for the Utah Department of Public Safety, told USA Today. "Not an attempt, they successfully installed it in the red rock in southeastern Utah."
