Mrs. Hinch-real name Sophie Hinchliffe-rose to fame after she started sharing cleaning tips and techniques online. Now with more than 4 million followers, fans of social media sensation often go to a dedicated Facebook page to share their own hackers.

A woman posted on Mrs. Hinch's Cleaning Tips Facebook page and asked for some advice on her washing machine problem.

If washing machines are not properly ventilated or cleaned regularly, they may become moldy.

This is most common under the seal towards the front of the washing machine.

Fortunately, there are some ways to get rid of it and deep clean the washing machine.

"I just moved into a new rental property. This is a washing machine. I tried many products, but they didn't help much."

Fans of Mrs Hinch scrambled to comment on how to get rid of mold.

Amba Wickstead said: "Try some actual mildew spray. Just make sure to put the machine in the rinse cycle after use to avoid damaging your clothes."

Teresa Wong agreed and wrote: "My daughter has just moved into the student apartment, and hers is like this. I got the anti-mold agent and left it for several hours.

"Then I rinsed and scrubbed with a toothbrush. I did it again a few days later, and then I used washing machine cleaner, and it's all gone now."

Elisa Peake commented: "I found that as long as I use a toothbrush, it doesn't matter what product I use, it is really helpful and very cheap."

Other team members recommend using white vinegar.

Alison Whiteman said: "Soak the rag in white vinegar, then put it in the rubber, and let it sit overnight. Then wash it with a few bottles of vinegar...it should stop any mold."

It is also recommended to keep the door open after use to help dry out the water.

In addition to cleaning the seals, the actual washing machine drawers including the drum also need to be cleaned regularly.

Sharing suggestions on the same Facebook page, a woman shared how she managed to make her washing machine "shiny".

"Put the soda water and white vinegar together in the drum, and then you can wash it without clothes."

Fans of Mrs. Xin Qi explained that she also used some scented disinfectants to help remove any odors in the machine.

Mia added that she used half a bag of soda and a few bottles of white vinegar.

Soda crystals and white vinegar are both affordable and can be bought in supermarkets.
