Worcester, Massachusetts — Dean Fisher is a disabled veteran in Worcester. He served in the Marine Corps for eight years and in the U.S. Army for eight years.

"If it weren't here, Thanksgiving would be a different place for me, it would try to put things together," he said.

Fisher has a fixed income and receives it once a month. He and hundreds of other veterans, such as Bill Korkorian, who served in Vietnam, filled their shopping carts with turkey and Thanksgiving meals at the headquarters of the Worcester Veterans Company on Tuesday. All accessories.

"I think this is an opportunity to get together and feel the benefits of being rewarded," Korkorian said.

This is the 20th year that the Veterans Company is hosting a holiday harvest festival for men and women who serve our country and may need a little help now. Every year Boston 25 cooperates with veterans companies to participate in their holiday harvest. Donated more than 500 turkeys. On Thanksgiving this year, they will feed 500 veteran families and more than 3,000 people. The Veterans Company also distributed thousands of pounds of potatoes, vegetables, fillings, canned food and pies.

This non-profit organization is the largest provider of support services for New England veterans and their families. This event is one of the largest.

Vincent Perrone, President and CEO of Veterans Corporation, said: "These people see that they are on vacation. Who is more suitable for vacation than the men and women who defend our country and protect us, and they should. "

A small thanks to so many people who have given so much.

"When you don't have to worry about things. It allows you to enjoy Thanksgiving to the fullest. I am grateful, I am grateful for what it is. It makes you very grateful," Fisher said.
