NORM Holding, which has already produced 110,000 tons in Turkey, is now seeking the possibility of international investment to further increase its production capacity. NORM intends to build a manufacturing footprint in the next five years, first in Europe, Then in the United States.

NORM's research and development NORM always pays close attention to the current and future development trends of the cold forging industry, and participates in exhibitions and scientific conferences related to forging and fastener technology, including the plenary meeting of the international cold forging group. By doing so, NORM is able to collect new know-how, technology and equipment for its library. After that, NORM applied all the knowledge it had learned to its production facilities and R&D centers very quickly. For example, in order to achieve stricter tolerances for cold forgings, the R&D center has been looking for unique projects to improve the forging performance of the die. Another aspect involves establishing close partnerships and cooperation with steel companies to develop steels and forming processes that are easier to form. In the research and development project, the improvement and modification of the forging press were also studied in depth to achieve higher tolerances. NORM keeps in touch with leading printing press manufacturers, and as informed and experienced users, they use the fullest opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of their technology.

The patented product NORM Civata is the first Turkish company to use computer-aided engineering methods to produce fasteners. Simufact finite element software is widely used in R&D centers to carry out activities such as product development, process improvement, mold and model design, and cost reduction. The main purpose of research and development is to develop lightweight fasteners with higher fatigue resistance and vibration resistance for automotive components. The research also covers innovative connection solutions, microalloy material forging, carbon fiber reinforced stress ring cold forging die design, smart bolts and non-ferrous metal material forging. Since the beginning of 2000, NORM fasteners have been simulated using finite element. The commercial software Simufact Forming is specifically designed for forging operations. Finite element simulation is used for two main purposes in NORM. First, in the new part approval process, it is used to determine the material flow during the cold forging process, confirm the final size and identify the occurrence of damage. Second, determine or improve the mold life of new products or currently manufactured products. If a new complex fastener is being designed, the material flow at the forging station is determined by simulation. If something goes wrong, you can immediately improve the design in the CAD environment. This greatly reduces the risk of manufacturing incorrect molds. The existence of any cracks can be estimated before production. NORM can also perform product testing, including simulating the compression of parts after cold forging according to customer requirements. Finally, determine the final size of the product and estimate the deviation. The information provided has greatly helped the designer. In addition to these capabilities, NORM Holding is also very keen on 3D printing technology, and its R&D department always pays close attention to new developments, especially in the area of carbide-based composite metal printing. The entire creation of proprietary products started with the brainstorming of the R&D department. Here, the key ideas come together to create a scene for the development of the project. Then determine the alternatives, and each group is studying the alternatives. The best results are presented by the R&D staff to colleagues in the production and design departments. In this way, the entire creation process of special patented products is completely based on in-depth research and development. Every year, investment in NORM research and development is increasing, driving the development of many important and unique products. According to the Turkish R&D center performance indicators announced by the Turkish Ministry of Science and Technology, NORM Civata was named the best R&D center in the metal products category in 2015 and won the third prize in the productivity project competition. NORM Civata cooperates with universities, research institutions and other R&D centers. The unique patented products that NORM Holding has also developed include:

NORMEST (NORM-Easy Self Tapping): A self-tapping bolt that exhibits high performance when creating its own threads in assembled parts.

NOW (NORM One Way): A bolt with a unique head shape that allows users to only tighten the bolt but not loose it.

Fasti-NORM: A bolt that eliminates the welding process between the bolt and the metal plate through a special head form.

NORM-iFR: Anti-fatigue bolt with unique thread profile. In response to the expectations of the automotive industry, NORM Civata launched a government-funded research and development project to produce aluminum alloy bushings. After successfully launching these aluminum alloy bushes, NORM has expanded its product range of externally threaded fasteners and continued to improve internally threaded parts. All these innovative and unique products are developed in a short period of time, aiming to reduce costs for customers and improve product performance and quality. For NORM, customers are always the driving force in creating branded solutions and products. NORM's latest initiative The excitement in pursuit of quality and productivity prompted NORM to make the latest decision to develop its own customized machinery for use in its factories. NRM Machining Company was established in 2014 to provide services to NORM Holding manufacturing company. Its production capacity is centered on Industry 4.0 and factory automation robot technology, focusing on crack control, pointing, gasket assembly, selection and sorting, welding and secondary operation machinery.
