DO YOU HAVE A DREAM IN YOUR HEART - 50 IS NOT OLD

What did you want to be when you were little? That’s a question that we ask children all of the time, and the answers are always entertaining. A Ballerina, an astronaut,  President, a mommy or daddy, a teacher, a firefighter, a doctor, and lots of other occupations are things that children dream about becoming. When we asked my granddaughter what she wanted to do when she grew up, her answer was NOTHING. I want to stay home and let my husband do all the work. Lol!

My husband went to college and became an engineer, but that wasn’t the occupation that his path took. Instead, he ended up going back to his hometown and running the family business. He has often laughed and said that “selling screws was never his dream job.” If you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was to be a dental assistant. Blogger wasn’t even a profession back then, and I didn’t even know what a dental assistant’s job was. What I did know was that I could do “anything” I wanted.

Last week, I talked about doing everything as if you worked for the Lord. I’m continuing with that theme today, and I’m encouraging you to revisit your dreams. We need to have a reason to get up in the morning other than the alarm clock just went off. I believe that the Lord places dreams in our hearts for a reason. The Lord cares about our wants, needs, and dreams, and He delights in making them come true.

Dreams take hope, faith, and perseverance because they rarely happen overnight. Dreams start out small, mustard seed small! It is very rare for a dream to be planted in your heart and come to fruition without a lot of obstacles. Our dreams are the perfect place for the Lord to teach lessons, and one of the first lessons can be about belief.

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;      I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

You may be on the path of a dream and not even know it. When my sister first mentioned that I should start a blog, the seed was planted. But, I didn’t water the seed or try to pursue that path for over a year. Whether that was the Lord’s plan or me dragging my feet, I have no idea, but one day I felt the need to start this journey. I didn’t know I was taking a huge leap of faith, but that is exactly what I did.

There have been days that took a lot of faith and perseverance to continue. Obstacles have been placed in my way, such as having to learn technology and platforms I knew nothing about. The day I lost my entire subscriber list was a no-good, very bad day, but I persevered. My entire goal was to reach 10K subscribers, and I watched over 8500 of them disappear in the flash of an eye. But, God is GOOD, and several days later, my list was recovered. I reached that 10K goal and watched as the Lord laughed at my measly goal. I could hear Him saying, “I’m capable of much more than that!”

You might remember a dreamer named Joseph. The Lord revealed to Joseph in a dream what his life was going to look like. Then, the Lord placed some huge obstacles in his way, and Joseph held firm in his worship of the Lord. If things don’t look like you thought they would, then maybe you have a few more obstacles to overcome.

Has the Lord placed a dream on your heart? Is there one that you’ve been ignoring for a while? Can you hear Him saying, “I’m capable of much more than that?” Remember, all dreams start small, so go water your seedling.

To God Goes The Glory!
