It sounds simple, but we have seen many frustrated consumers having trouble installing a new towel rail in the bathroom. These can be bars (two anchor points) or towel loop style (single anchor point). There are even space-saving models with articulated arms and multiple swingable shelves that can hold more towels. The finish can be chrome, brushed, antique, copper, or almost anything you can imagine or dream of.

It sounds simple, but we have seen many frustrated consumers struggling with how to install towel bars on the bathroom dry wall. These can be bars (two anchor points) or towel loop style (single anchor point). There are even space-saving models with articulated arms and multiple swingable shelves that can hold more towels. The finish can be chrome, marble, brushed, antique, copper, or almost anything you can imagine or dream of.

Not installed to drywall? no problem. Please refer to the tips at the bottom of the operating guide to learn how we can solve the problem of installing towel bars on block walls and even plaster and lathes.

Most towel racks come with templates that can be used to lay out the exact location of the anchors. You need to drill holes in the dry wall and fix the towel bars to the wall. We recommend using the anchor bolts provided as they will perfectly match the screws provided.

Editor's note: Check out our article on how to use drywall anchors for these tips on how to secure shelves and racks to drywall.

The great thing is that if you hit a stud, you can screw it directly into the wooden stud to provide you with a very safe anchor point.

The following is a breakdown of the steps necessary to install a towel bar in a bathroom or shower area:

Get a rough idea of where you want the new towel bar.

You want to use a spirit level to ensure that the pole is straight after being installed on a dry wall.

Use a pencil to mark the holes where the gypsum board anchors and/or screws need to be installed.

This may be the easiest step-just make sure you do it.

Gently tap the anchor point into place. If you use screw-in anchors, use a large Phillips screwdriver to screw them into the drywall. These types of drywall anchors can withstand heavier loads.

These brackets come in many different forms, but usually include the rear to which the front mount is attached. This can be done by a small fixing screw or (in this case) by locking on the two upward tongues provided by the bracket.

This is probably the best step in how to install the towel bar-the final assembly! If your mounting rack is as shown in the picture above, slide the towel rack down to fix it on the rack. Before securing the second bracket in place, be sure to add a horizontal towel rail or rod, because you will not be able to insert the rod later.

When installing the towel bar on the block wall, steps 1-3 remain the same. However, when drilling is required, you can either use Tapcon screws or use suitable concrete anchors. Either of these two methods requires pre-drilling holes before screwing the brackets. In the case of Tapcons, you can usually get the required bits correctly in the container.

With concrete anchors, screws and anchors are combined, but you need to buy a drill bit. The package should tell you what size concrete bit you need. Once you have decided on a suitable anchor point and installed it in place, proceed to step 6.

To install towel bars on plaster and lathe walls, follow steps 1-3, and then consider using molly bolts that expand on the wall instead.

To install Morley bolts, use a standard drill bit or a concrete drill bit to pre-drill the holes in the recommended size (see packaging). Use a hammer to flush the Molly bolt with the wall. Next, turn the screw to expand the slotted sleeve in the wall so that it holds the anchor firmly in place. Tighten it until it becomes beautiful and comfortable, and the flat gasket-like surface begins to sink into the plaster.

After installing the molly, you can remove the threaded screw and install the bracket in step 6.

Everything here is its. Of course, if fixing the towel rail directly to the wall does not work in your bathroom, please feel free to check out the many freestanding towel rails on the market.
