Has Keenan Allen been vaccinated? The charger WR is on the covid-19/reserve list

There were reports on Monday that the Los Angeles Chargers included Keenan Allen on the covid-19/reserve list and tested positive for covid-19. This puts Allen up in the air in Week 14 against the New York Giants on Sunday and Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs next Thursday.

This is not the first time that a Charger player has tested positive for covid-19 and has been included on the list. The first question many fans have after hearing the news is whether Keenan Allen has been vaccinated.

Fortunately, according to Taylor Biscoitti of the NFL Network, not only for the team, but also for the health of him and his family, Allen seems to be vaccinated.

I heard that Keenan Allen was vaccinated, so he can still play on Sunday.

The protocols for vaccinated and unvaccinated players are different, as are the protocols for positive tests and close contacts. Two weeks ago, Joey Bosa was added to the covid-19/reserve list because he was an unvaccinated close contact of a player who tested positive. Bosa has never tested positive and provided multiple negative tests, and was able to play on Sunday.

If he returns in Week 14 against the New York Giants, Allen must check two aspects. Because of the vaccination, Allen only needs to provide two Covid-19 negative tests (24 hours apart) and 48 hours asymptomatic. This is much better than the alternative, which is at least 10 days away from the charger.

If this is the case, then Allen looked far-fetched in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Since he was vaccinated, he is likely to be able to take two negative tests and be asymptomatic for two full days.

Probably not having Keenan Allen in Week 14 is not a huge blow. The Chargers do not have the most difficult opponent of the New York Giants, and they may be forced to start Jack Fromm in the game.

Obviously, it would be better for the Chargers to have Allen in the game, but they can beat Jack Fromm and the New York Giants without him. However, Allen will play an important role in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Chargers will need to go all out to defeat the Chiefs for the second time. Since 2014, the Chiefs have not lost in two games against divisional opponents.
