GF Machining Solutions designed the Mikron Mill E 500 U high-efficiency five-axis milling machine and Cut AM 500 horizontal wire cutting machine to provide medical manufacturers with key subtractive operations required for the production of additive manufacturing parts. It is said that both machines can work seamlessly with GF Machining Solutions' additive manufacturing system to achieve complete medical parts processing and optimized workflows.

The Mikron Mill E 500 U has a large rotation range from 65° to 120° and a capacity for additive parts weighing up to 450 kg. GF Machining Solutions said that with its tilting and rotating table, the machine enables users to process a wider range of parts.

The Mikron Mill E 500 U's 20,000 rpm Step-Tec spindle can handle rough milling and drilling operations, and the metal removal rate is 20% higher than the previous model. Its sturdy and stable C-frame cast iron structure reduces vibration, thereby improving accuracy and repeatability, while it is reported that large guide rails, double-sided support turntables and optimized chip removal function improve reliability and part quality.

The Cut AM 500 horizontal wire cutting machine is specially designed for the additive manufacturing process. It can separate the metal parts of the additive manufacturing from the build plate while maintaining geometric accuracy and ensuring assembly readiness. According to the company, the machine is a fast, accurate, economical, and automated alternative to using standard vertical EDM equipment or band saws to separate parts from build plates.

In addition, Cut AM 500 is said to solve many quality obstacles encountered by manufacturers when using band saws, including but not limited to geometric inaccuracies, workpiece material loss (cuts) and part damage. According to reports, Cut AM 500 eliminates any contamination and/or damage, making it an ideal choice for risk aversion industries such as medical manufacturing.
