The new ProJect Debut PRO S turntable is a beautifully stark design and is fully adjustable for a ... [+] wide range of setups and cartridges.

The Today Pro-Ject is launching the Debut PRO S turntable in the North American market. This new model extends the brand’s PRO series with manual controls and no unnecessary switches, LEDs or labeling to distract from its sleek aesthetic.

Pro-Ject has used its latest S-shaped 10" aluminum tonearm with a removable headshell for quick and easy switching of cartridges. There are also azimuth and VTA adjustments so the user can completely control the important setup parameters. The deck is handmade in Europe and features a full satin black finish that lends the Debut PRO S a look of intrigue.

Pro-Ject’s latest S-shaped tonearm offers more precise tracking than a straight version. The S-shaped tonearm contains more material which increases its effective mass, enabling the tonearm to handle with heavier cartridges.

The diamond-cut, aluminum sub-platter of the Pro-Ject Debut PRO S increases the entire mass of the ... [+] drive system which leads to dampening of noise and reduction of unwanted resonances.

The user can adjust the tonearm height simply by loosening two grub screws at the rear of the armboard. The azimuth adjusts with a single grub screw near the gimbal, enabling rotation of the armtube. This versatility offers endless possibilities for experimentation with different cartridges and record mats, creating a precise setup.

The platter speed of the Debut PRO S is controlled electronically for speed, accuracy and stability. Playing speeds can be selected between 33 and 45RPM with the flip of a switch, plus there’s a round belt for playing 78RPM records. The diamond-cut aluminum sub-platter increases the overall mass of the drive system, which dampens noise and reduces unwanted resonances. The aluminum platter is machined and balanced and there’s a TPE ring on its underside, which increases damping and the rotational mass of the platter, further improving speed stability.

The new Pro-Ject Debut PRO S is a beautiful turntable. It’s an excellent choice for those who enjoy tinkering with different cartridges and adjusting their turntable setup. However, for those that don’t want to fiddle around, it should work fine straight out of the box.

Pricing & Availability: The Pro-Ject Debut PRO S is available now and costs $1,200.
